visualizing the path of The Dordrecht

This week in the data science research group, we focused on improving our visualization abilities. We primarily worked with ggplot2, but also started using ggmap and googleVis. We held a small competition to see which visualization of the Ocean Ship Logbooks data would be most impressive.

My visualization shows the path of The Dordrecht, a Dutch vessel with a large number of logs and the air temperature at each location. Follow this link to to see it: Path of The Dordrecht

We plan to continue working with visualization for another week, completing a tutorial on googleVis and applying the various visualization packages to the USA Census data.
